The 10 a.m. ceremony at the City Pavilion showcased the two new E-One units built to specifications set by Chief Danczyk. The units, costing $550,000 each were purchased with help from the Fire Marshal’s office and the state legislature.

Fire Marshal Mike Chaney said, “When people work together you can move a mountain. This is a good example. You have the legislative body, the City of Vicksburg, the Rating Bureau and the Fire Marshal’s office all working together for a common cause. The result is you can save lives and save money on insurance simply because you’ve got good leadership in Vicksburg.”

Numerous officials and firefighters attended the unveiling including the Mayor and Aldermen and Sheriff Martin Pace. From the state legislature Oscar Denton, Kevin Ford and Briggs Hopson were all in attendance. Additionally, Assistant Police Chief Mike Bryant was there along with a representative of the Rating Bureau and both Deputy Fire Chiefs Trey Martin and Derrick Stamps.

“Anytime you’re investing in the City of Vicksburg and working with the Rating Bureau which results in insurance rates going down for the City. That is the coordination that it takes to move Vicksburg Forward,” noted District 54 Representative Kevin Ford. He went on to note the financial saving for residents. “The end result is a safer community and cheaper rates. I think we’re working in the right direction.”
