A Mississippi teenager has died after being shot in the head by a Gulfport Police Officer.

Jaheim McMillan, 15, was shot outside a discount store on Thursday and was taken off of life-support on Saturday at USA University Hospital in Mobile, Alabama.

The Gulfport Police Department released a statement on the incident stating the suspect was armed at the time of the encounter. According to the release, Gulfport police responded to the 911 call on Pass Road and 8th Avenue referencing several individuals waving guns.

Multiple accusations state that McMillan was not armed at the time of the shooting and his family is requesting the release of the body camera footage.

Gulfport Police Chief Adam Cooper stated four other suspects were taken into custody, all believed to be minors.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
