15-year-old killed in overnight Claiborne County shooting

A 15-year-old is dead after an overnight car chase and shooting in Claiborne County.

At around 1 a.m. Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting on Highway 18.

An incident that started at the Citgo at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 18 escalated after one group got in a car to leave and began to be chased by others in another vehicle.

Reports indicate the chase continued east on Highway 18 with the second car in pursuit firing at the first vehicle.

The chase terminated around Port Gibson High School where a 15-year-old in the lead vehicle was struck and killed by bullets.

Sheriff Goods arrested five individuals in relation to the event and states the investigation is ongoing.
