17-year-old shot at Carr Central drives self to Fastway
One person was shot at Carr Central Apartments on Cherry Street and drove themselves to the Fastway at Cherry and Clay.
911 received 3 separate alerts at 6:49 p.m. alerting them of a shooting victim at the Fastway on Cherry at Clay. A 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the right leg was laying in the doorway of the Fastway when the first units arrived.
A large number of police and rescue units responded to the location. Several police units were seen leaving the scene and racing south on Cherry toward Carr Central Apartments. At least 6 units were at Carr Central looking for evidence of a shooting. Later radio traffic indicated the exact location of the shooting and area cameras were being sought.
The 17-year-old’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Several law enforcement units were noted at the hospital to quell angry family members of the injured young man.
Air Care was called to transport the injured to a Jackson area hospital.
