1990s rap icon Coolio dead at 59
Coolio, arguably one of the most popular rap artists of the 1990s, died following nearly an hour of resuscitation attempts.
Coolio, 59, was found unresponsive on Wednesday at the home of a friend in Los Angeles.
According to CNN, Los Angeles Fire Department first responders arrived at the home at 4 p.m. and tried resuscitation efforts for about 45 minutes before declaring him dead.
TMZ reports that Coolio’s manager, Jarez, stated Coolio went to the bathroom and did not come out. His friend went to check on him and found him lying on the floor.
Artists have taken to social media to show their support and respect, including “Weird” Al Yankovic, who spoofed one of Coolio’s most famous tracks, “Gangsta’s Paradise”
