2 in custody after leading Vicksburg PD on chase

2 men are in police custody after leading Vicksburg Police on a miles-long chase.
Just after 10 p.m., Matt Barnes with the Vicksburg Police Department noticed a vehicle driving recklessly in the area of Farmer and Jackson Street in one of the oldest parts of the city. According to Barnes, the vehicle ran another vehicle off the roadway. Barnes turned on his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle but it fled away from him heading toward Sky Farm. The vehicle continued on Sky Farm east passing by the city cemetery and Mission 66.
Barnes noted over the radio that the suspects were unable to go very fast but were failing to yield.
The vehicle then went into the Meadowvale, Pemberton area and looped the neighborhood a couple of times. Other units with the VPD blocked the road at Sky Farm so the suspects had nowhere to go. On their third loop through the area, the driver ditched the vehicle in the 200 block of 1st Avenue. Both the driver and the passenger attempted to run on foot away from Barnes and the other VPD officers to no avail. Barnes and other units were able to apprehend the two suspects without incident.
6 additional VPD units assisted Barnes in blocking roads and trapping the suspects in the neighborhood.
The chase started at 10:07 p.m. and the two suspects were in custody at 10:17 p.m.
