The fifth annual Back 2 School Drive is scheduled for July 24 at 5 p.m. The drive will be hosted at Rodney’s Store at 1813 South Street.
The organization focuses on the well-being and strengthening of the community’s youth – socially, psychologically and spiritually. The organization also aids them to prepare for success by reducing skill gaps.
“In order to be effective, children must be equipped with the proper tools and resources to navigate towards success and this event has proven to do just that. The year 2020 was a difficult year for us all as we experienced a pandemic like none other. However, as we return to our new normal, we would like to place as many children as possible in the best position for a great school year,” stated the drive’s founder Jeremi Meekins in correspondence with VDN. “Proverbs 11:25 states, ‘Whoever brings blessings will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.’ Our hope is that our efforts towards pouring into the community will enhance our very village. Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our prior sponsors, our organization was able to support over 1,000 children with school supplies in 2019. ”
It is no doubt that the past school year has left many students unsure about the school year to come. Thanks to community organizers like Jeremi Meekins, the burden is lessened by ensuring the tools for success are within reach.
Parents must be present with the student in order to receive the supplies. Any questions about the event can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by calling (404) 906-1411.
