JACKSON, MS (WLBT) -A shocking discovery for a Hinds County constable Tuesday morning after a routine eviction notice lead to the discovery of three children hiding inside a closet. Constable Jerry Moore arrived at 2845 Greenview Drive in Jackson around 10:15 a.m.  When he and the owner forced their way inside, they found the children — a 12 year old girl, a  2-year-old girl and her 3-month-old brother.  The 12-year-old had been left to take care of the children and only had water to feed the baby.  Moore says conditions inside the house were deplorable with sewage, human waste and roaches.  “After talking with the young lady, she said she had not seen her mother in the last 24 hours, and she supposed to be gone for the next week or so and you know it actually touches you,” said Moore. “You know, you have to respond and try to do the best you can, you know for the kids.  At that point and time, it’s just all about finding them some help.”  The children were taken to UMC to be evaluated and will then be turned over to the Department of Human Services.  The 3-month-old remains hospitalized.  The mother, Lena Crosby, 24, has been taken into custody and charged with 1 count of felony child neglect.  Police are searching for her father, Eddie Crosby and a 7-year-old child, who is his son.
