5 Road Trips When There’s Nothing To Do
It’s hot.
It’s Mississippi hot. It’s been Mississippi hot for a few weeks already.
If your house is like ours the “What do you want to do?” “I don’t know, what do you want to do?” conversation is a common one. Even though we live in one of the most beautiful cities on the planet, sometimes you just want to escape for the day. Here are five little-known fresh-water beaches nearby that will help you beat the Mississippi heat:
Clearwater Key at Geyser Falls Water Park. Eight acres of white sand beaches and crystal clear water in the pool. Clearwater Key has a Caribbean feel featuring cabanas and even a hot tub. Get your islands on in Philadelphia, Miss.
Blue Lagoon at Paradise Ranch and Resort. Don’t worry, it’s not all uppity. A $10 day pass will get you into this artesian-well fed, man-made lagoon surrounded by pristine sand. It is attached to a 100-plus acre resort with camping and fishing in Tylertown.
Low Water Bridge. Located near the Homochitto National Forest it offers a secluded swimming spot, a sandy beach, and a rock bottom creek. Sometimes the water is low, but it is always clear and just right on a summer’s day.
Old Bridge Beach. A lot of people say this beach has the clearest water in Mississippi. A playground, fishing, grills, and picnic tables and lots of white sand. Make sure you bring a life jacket for the young ones. Old Bridge Beach is about a fpur-hour drive and is northeast of Tupelo.
Chewalla Lake Recreation Area. This recreation area is located in the Holly Springs National Forest. Spring fed Chewalla lake offers a beach and campsites including RV hookups.
