500 grams of meth taken off Vicksburg’s streets by narcotics officers

Vicksburg Police officers arrested Chauncey Rankin, 30, for possession of methamphetamine yesterday, Jan. 31.

The arrest came after a brief foot pursuit by members of the department’s Narcotic Enforcement Team in the Kings area of Vicksburg.

Rankin was in possession of more than 500 grams of meth, just over one pound, with a street value of $41,000.

When officers executed a search warrant at his residence a short time later, they found an additional amount of methamphetamine, digital scales, a 5.56mm semi-automatic rifle and over $3,500 cash, which was all collected as evidence.

Rankin has been charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. He is being housed in the Madison County Jail and will appear in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, Feb. 3.
