61 South at the Big Black river bridge is iced over

Warren County Sheriff’s deputies have requested MDOT be dispatched to the bridge over the Big Black river in 61 South.

MODT will spread slag, a combination of sand and other minerals, over the icy roadway to assist vehicles in safely crossing the bridge. Last night there were several accidents on the bridge that tied up MHP and Warren County law enforcement. Fortunately, there were no major injuries in any of those accidents.

Law enforcement is encouraging people to stay home if they can this evening. Freezing temperatures mean any moisture on the roads will create icy conditions.
