91-year-old Crystal Springs man dies in crash

John T. Walker, 91, of Crystal Springs, died Friday in a two-vehicle crash in Copiah County. Another person received life-threatening injuries.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol was called to the accident at the intersection of state Highway 27 and Dry Grove Road at 12:04 p.m. Friday. The crash involved a Dodge Journey driven by Walker and an 18-wheeler hauling cattle.

Preliminary reports indicate that the Dodge was traveling westbound on Dry Grove Road, when it crossed into the path of a northbound 18-wheeler on Highway 27. Walker, the driver of the Dodge, died as a result of his injuries and his passenger was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The driver and two occupants of the 18-wheeler were not injured.

The MHP is investigating the crash.
