A bear and her cubs wearing life jackets – Warren County, Mississippi

Jimmy Deere captured this photo of a mama bear and her two cubs walking on a dry patch of the flooded backwater in northern Warren County Thursday morning.

The figures are actually a cutout of the bear and cubs done by Deere and his wife, Stormy. Their property has been underwater most of 2020 and was underwater during the Great Backwater Flood of 2019 as well. They use the cutouts to draw attention to the “Finish the Pumps” sign on their property.

During the 2019 flood an untold number of animals perished during the catastrophe.
