A big fight was reported in front of the police station
Saturday night, around 11:30 p.m., dispatchers put out a call for units to get to the Vicksburg Police Department. A fight was happening in the street.
The original call included a report of shots fired, but one of the first units on the scene reported there were no shots fired.
At least seven units responded to the scene where a group of people in four different cars were having an altercation.
When the Vicksburg Daily News arrived at the scene police officers had it under control and one person was in cuffs and taken into the police station. According to Chief Penny Jones, that person was Willie Davis who was charged with domestic, simple assault.
Others were detained and seen going into the police station.
Additionally, one officer was observed carrying a rifle. It is not known if that rifle was a police issue and used to suppress the situation or if it was recovered from one of the vehicles.
Chief Penny Jones informed the Vicksburg Daily News the disagreement began as a domestic dispute. “Willie was following the female and her current boyfriend. Willie was arrested and charged.”
