A big fourth quarter comeback leads to WC defeating Pearl 38-21 on Friday

Warren Central High School football team picked up another district win over Pearl on Friday in a 38-21 win.

The Vikings managed to strike first in the first quarter on a 91-yard drive that resulted in a 38-yard touchdown run by Mark Gray Jr.

WC would eventually take a 10-0 lead after a 30-yard field goal from Jonah Artman. With 9:30 left in the half, Jamarion Turner helped get Pearl on the board with a 18-yard touchdown to put the score at 10-7.

Trey Hall would breakout for a 48-yard touchdown with just a minute before halftime as WC went up 17-7.

Coming out of halftime, WC would get on the board again after a couple of drives as Artman nailed a 31-yard field goal with 7:38 left in the quarter. Just one minute later Jack Durr scored from 10-yards out for the Pirates while WC maintained a 20-14 lead.

With less than a minute to play in the quarter, Durr connected with Jalan Jackson as Pearl took a 21-20 lead.

The fourth quarter would belong to WC beginning with a eight yard touchdown by Gray. Maddox Lynch would catch a pass from Jack Wright for the two-point conversion to put the game at 28-21.

Eventually Artman would extend WC’s lead after a 20-yard field goal with the Vikings now up 31-21.

Hall finished things up for the night by getting another score from 55-yards out to secure the 38-21 win.

Zack Evans grabbed two key interceptions on defense and one was almost returned for a touchdown.

WC now improves to 6-1 on the year and will host Terry on Friday.
