A late walk gave PCA a 8-7 win over Calhoun Academy on Tuesday

Porter’s Chapel Academy gained a win over Calhoun Academy on Tuesday in game one.
After a scoreless first inning, Thomas Azlin sacrificed to get PCA on the board in the second inning to go up 1-0.
Calhoun tied things up at one in the third after a ground ball by Vanlandingham. They soon took a 4-1 lead over PCA in the fourth after a double and a run from a error.
The Eagles came alive in the fifth once Zach Ashley got a big hit and brought in two runs, leaving PCA trailing 4-3. Taylor Labarre got on base after a hit, then John Wyatt Massey stepped up and hit a beauty that led to the Eagles grabbing two more runs and taking a 5-4 lead at the end of the sixth.
Zach Ashley came in to pitch in the seventh. As one ball appeared to be going over the fence, Lawson Selby hopped up to snatch the ball.
Calhoun then got a home run with two men on and took a 7-5 lead.
Taylor Labarre would help PCA tie the game at seven after hit which brought in two runs, attempting to reach third base.
PCA found themselves in good position with the bases eventually full due to three walks. Azlin went up to bat next and also gained a walk which sealed the deal for PCA, taking the 8-7 win.
Gage Palmer, Labarre and Massey all had two hits on the night. Azlin, Ashley and Massey had two RBIs.
Palmer struck out nine in the win. PCA will travel to Calhoun on Thursday for game two.
