A mobile home was a total loss in early Friday morning structure fire

A structure fire occurred at a home on Walton Lane early Friday morning.

A smoke alarm alerted the home owner of ongoing fire then E-911 received a call at approximately 1:20 a.m.

Jeff Riggs, spokesman for the Warren County Fire Service, reported that fire units of Bovina and Culkin responded to the structure fire.

Bovina Chief Chris Kenndy was the first unit on scene and stated that a single wide mobile home was fully involved in flames and 60 percent of the roof had all ready collapsed.

Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control of what was left of the structure but spent a considerable amount of time in overhauling and extinguishing hot spots within the collapsed structure.

The mobile home was a total loss and one occupant had to be treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time. Riggs states that “smoke alarm saves lives and urges everyone to test their alarms today.”
