What would you do if you see an animal in distress? Luckily for a local deer, two Vicksburg residents, Isabella Jeffers and Cappy Strawn, had just the answer.

Early Saturday morning, Vicksburg resident Isabella Jeffers observed a deer crossing the road on Porters Chapel Road. The deer was attempting to get through the iron gate at the entrance to Camden Place.

Jeffers went home and got her mother, Cappy Strawn, who summoned Vicksburg police for assistance.

Vicksburg police were able to eventually free the deer, who quickly darted off after realizing it was free.

In the video below, you can see Deputy Chief Bobby Stewart with Officer Brad Lyons and David Smith working together to free the deer.
