A brand new, multi-million dollar residential apartment concept is coming together in downtown Vicksburg in the old Margaritaville.

Scott Sledge is overseeing the development and is a Vice President with Certified Hospitality Management, who operates nine hotels and entertainment properties throughout Mississippi and Alabama. Sledge is also from Vicksburg.

“Vicksburg is a special place considering I was born here and spent my early years in Vicksburg,” said Sledge.

His family may be best remembered as the one who ran the Royal Crown operation in Vicksburg. His family moved to Hattiesburg when he was 7. Sledge will oversee the Vicksburg operation through a site manager.

Sledge gave the Vicksburg Daily News a tour of the facility starting in the lobby.

“We will have a bistro style set up where people can get appetizers and a place to sit down. It will serve both residents and hotel guests,” he stated. “In addition to the main hotel building, Phase 2 of our project which once housed the prior owners Casino’s food service facility/operation/outlets and the arcade area, will be utilized and developed for future expansion of the facility- i.e.-Future Restaurant, event space, Art Gallery.”

When asked about the adjacent Vicksburg Convention Center Sledge said, “We will partner with the Convention Center and be involved in all aspects of the community. We will also work with Sports Force Parks and other community assets. What is good for Vicksburg is good for all of us.” Sledge noted, “We believe this is a perfect location for the sports families that will travel to Vicksburg.”

The Riveria at Mulberry

Moving back to the property Sledge went on to say, “We will begin renovations to the pool area in March and will this will be called The Riviera at Mulberry.

The Riviera at Mulberry will feature cabanas, pool deck loungers, splash chairs, resident 2-top and 4-top dining tables and an 8-top dining table for poolside get-togethers. It will also feature a public bar and TV area, according to the current design plans. A Riverside Riviera for residents and guests to enjoy the beauty of downtown Vicksburg.

“The Mulberry Vicksburg will employ the history of Vicksburg including the influence of the French on this area. A lot of our design features pick up on the French influence,” mentioned Sledge.
