Absconded murder suspect captured in Yazoo City
On May 15, Moses Luckett was shot and killed at an apartment on Alcorn Drive.
Within an hour of the shooting, Bobby McGee and his sister, Summer Renes McGee, were stopped on Mississippi Highway 3 by Yazoo County Sheriff’s officials. Summer McGee, 21, was immediately taken into custody on murder charges, Bobby McGee, 26, fled into a wooded area near Eagle Bend Road and had been on the run until last night.
Summer McGee has been jailed in Warren County under a $1 million bond since the shooting.
Last night, Yazoo police and sheriffs officials took Bobby McGee into custody outside a home on Barnwell Street in Yazoo. According to Yazoo Police Chief Jay Winstead, he was transported to the Yazoo Regional Correctional Facility where he is being housed without bond until his initial court appearance in Warren County.
A firearm and a misdemeanor amount of marijuana were found in McGee’s possession during the course of the search and arrest.
The McGees were indicted by the October term of the Warren Country grand jury on murder charges. Summer McGee is alleged to have fired the shot that killed Luckett while Bobby McGee is alleged to have driven the vehicle they used to flee the scene.
In addition to those charges, Bobby McGee was scheduled to go on trial in Yazoo as a habitual offender  for previous charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a felon. His trial date for those charges passed in September.
Vicksburg police will process Bobby McGee early this week, and his case will be formally bound over to the Warren County grand jury.
