Bobby McGee, an accomplice to a homicide in Vicksburg Friday, is still on the run Saturday, probably in Yazoo County.

Around 12:25 p.m. Friday, Vicksburg Police responded to a shooting at the New Main Apartments. Moses Luckett, 37, was shot once in the chest and died on the scene.

Summer McGee, 20, of Yazoo City, the shooting suspect, fled the scene in a white pickup truck with her brother, Bobby McGee, at the wheel.

Yazoo County Sheriff Jacob Sheriff stopped the truck about 3 miles north of the Warren County line on state Highway 3 near Eagle Bend Road. Summer McGee was a passenger in the vehicle and was taken into custody. Bobby McGee bailed and ran across a levee and into a wooded area.

Wanted as an accomplice to Luckett’s murder, McGee was wearing red shorts and a white T-shirt when he ran. Police said he had possibly changed his clothes.

Law enforcement officers from multiple jurisdictions mounted a manhunt for McGee late Friday afternoon, but the trail went cold in a nearby swamp.

Late Friday night, McGee showed up on a woman’s doorstep in Tinsley, about 3 miles east of where he jumped from the truck. The woman said he was covered in mud, and she refused to let him in. He was still wearing the red shorts.

Authorities are continuing their search for Bobby McGee. Included among the searchers are K-9 units from Vicksburg, Warren County and Madison County, sheriff’s deputies and others.
