Two killed in “brazen ambush-style killing” in Adams County

Two men were killed on Thursday in an Adams County neighborhood. The event has been described by Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten as a “brazen ambush-style killing”, WLBT reports.
The deceased have been identified as Brandon Brooks, 26, and Taron Woods, 24. Both men endured multiple gunshot injuries and were declared dead at the scene shortly before 6 p.m.
As deputies arrived at the Myrtle Street location, the neighborhood witnessed an immediate influx of friends, family, and neighbors gathering to grasp what had transpired. As the crowd swelled into the hundreds, the Natchez City police were summoned to ensure the crime scene remained uncontaminated and to manage the traffic, which was halted in both directions.
Residents of the area were visibly distraught by the incident. Sheriff Patten remarked on the everyday nature of the evening, mentioning, “You had people in their yards just doing what they normally do when this happened.”
By Friday morning, the investigation had progressed, with four “persons of interest” identified and questioned regarding the incident. Despite this, the officers continue to interview potential witnesses and collect information in hopes of making an arrest soon.
