AG Lynn Fitch Seeks Information in Sexual Abuse Case Involving UMMC Dr. Mehul Dixit

The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office is requesting information to support an ongoing investigation into Mehul Piyush Dixit, who had been practicing pediatric nephrology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson.
Dr. Mehul Dixit, aged 59, has been arrested and charged with Sexual Battery of a Vulnerable Person and Gratification of Lust of a Vulnerable Person. Hinds County Court Judge Johnnie McDaniels set a $300,000 bond for Dixit and ordered ankle monitoring. Additionally, Dixit was instructed to surrender his passport, prohibited from entering UMMC, and required to refrain from contact with minors. In response, the State Board of Medical Licensure has temporarily suspended Dixit’s license.
Sexual predators often have multiple victims, which is why it is crucial to uncover the truth. The pursuit of justice and the healing of victims remain top priorities. The Attorney General’s Office urges individuals to come forward with any pertinent information. If your child has visited Dr. Dixit’s office, it is recommended that you have a conversation with them to determine if they have experienced any inappropriate contact. If you have information or if you are a victim seeking assistance, please contact the Attorney General’s Office at (833) 830-TIPS or email Medicaidfraud@ago.ms.gov.
