Alcorn defeated Jackson State 65-50 on Wednesday

Alcorn State University pulled off a big win over Jackson State on Wednesday in a 65-50 victory in the SWAC opener.

In the first half of play, the Braves and Tigers were going toe-to-toe with each other with ASU having a 28-24 lead at halftime.

Lennell Henry led things for Alcorn by putting up 22 points and four rebounds followed by Dominic Brewton who dropped 14 on the board.

In the second half, the Braces took over things by outscoring the Tigers 37-26 points with the final score of 65-50.

Jonas James led JSU with 15 points while Jayveous McKinnis and Gabe Watson each scored 14.

Sama’Zha Hart added eight for the Braves and Justin Thomas scored nine.

ASU will travel to face Alabama A&M on Saturday while JSU will hit the road to play Alabama State.
