Alcorn State University will soon hit the football field and play a game for the first time since the 2019 season.

The Braves will be led by head coach Fred McNair who is entering into his sixth year as head coach who helped the team to two SWAC Championships.

Since 2013, the Braves have been one of the top teams in the SWAC, competing for the championship nearly every year. Last season they forfeited due to the COVID-19 pandemic but they are now back and ready to win like always.

ASU won the SWAC title last time they were on the field in 2019. They will now open their season against North Carolina Central on August 28. They will also play their biggest rivalry game against Jackson State on November 20 in Jackson, Mississippi.

Just like in the previous years, Alcorn signed to major recruits in the offseason and will be able to show their fans they still got what it takes to win. It’s now time for Alcorn to prove that they still run the SWAC.

VDN will be there to cover their upcoming success.
