Alcorn’s Felix Harper now one of the top rated quarterbacks in the FCS
VICKSBURG, Miss. (Vicksburg Daily News) – After Alcorn State University (ASU) starting quarterback Noah Johnson suffered a injury early in the 2019 season, backup Felix Harper stepped up to the leadership role to take the Braves where they needed to go.
By throwing 2,954 yards, 33 touchdowns and rushing for six touchdowns, Harper quickly became an Historical Black College and Universities (HBCU) All-American and one of the biggest threats in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) football. He helped ASU to a 9-4 SWAC Championship season under head coach Fred McNair.
The tremendous 2019 season helped Harper get plenty of starting experience and publicity. He is now considered one of the top rated quarterbacks in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), with the Braves’ football season is quickly approaching.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alcorn opted out of the 2020 season which gave Harper plenty of time to prepare for 2021. Harper is expected to have some great performances just as he did against rival Jackson State University where he had a total of five touchdowns in the 41-6 victory.
The 2019 SWAC Offensive Player of the Year will be heading into war soon against North Carolina Central on August 28 to kickoff the Braves’ football season in Atlanta, Georgia.
