Story from Alcorn State Athletics:
GRAMBLING, La. – After a devastating loss at Southern on Saturday, the Braves men’s basketball team was determined to avoid making the same mistakes against Grambling on Monday.

Alcorn looked to previous SWAC Impact Player of the Week Dominic Brewton, who understood the assignment and found scoring assistance from Alcorn newcomer Jeremiah Kendall and Braves mainstay Bryon Joshua.

In the 63-60 victory, Brewton led the Braves’ offense with 16 points, Kendall added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Joshua rounded out the double-digit scoring with 12.

Alcorn (10-11, 7-2 SWAC) entered the second half down by one but fought back for the victory against the Tigers (13-8, 6-3 SWAC). The Braves won the game through tough defense, scoring 19 points off turnovers compared to Grambling’s five. Alcorn also forced more turnovers through steals, 9-3.

The Braves saw 49.0 percent accuracy from the field, including 28.6 percent in three-point range. At the line, Alcorn made 7 of 11 (63.6 percent).

Alcorn Basketball returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 4, when they take on the Golden Lions of Arkansas – Pine Bluff. The women’s game is set to begin at 2 p.m., and the men’s game will follow. Both contests will broadcast live on WPRL 91.7 FM.
