Alice Hazel Cooper Sorrels, 1940 – 2020

Alice Hazel Cooper Sorrels passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the age of 80.

Alice was born in Webster County, Mississippi, on April 20, 1940, the daughter of John Thomas and Lucille Whitt Cooper. She was a member of Beechwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Earl Sorrels; daughter Penny Sorrels and son-in-law Randy; siblings Margie Jackson, Sparkman Cooper, Winton Cooper, Inez Herman, J. T. “Jiggs” Cooper, Joe Lee Cooper and Oliver Cooper; and brother-in-law Billy Hill.

She is survived by her daughters Diane Easom (Bobby) and Shandra Anderson (Wayne); step-son Darrell Sorrels (Barbara); brothers Isaac Cooper (Brenda), Sam Cooper (Dianne) and John Earl Cooper; sisters Louise Hill and Rosa Mae Vanlandingham (L.B.); sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Cooper; grandchildren, Troy Anderson, April Anderson, Morgan Loyd (Amanda), Travis Sorrels (Kayla), Cody Norwood (Ben), Michael Wayne Sorrels (Whitney) and Sonya Jones (Cory); and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, July 31, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg officiated by Michael Jabour. Audrey Hood will sing. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow the service in Sarepta Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Troy Anderson, Morgan Loyd, Michael Wayne Sorrels, Travis Sorrels, Michael Vaughn and David Vaughn.
