Hundreds of college-educated professional women representing Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA) will convene this Saturday at Vicksburg Convention Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi for the South Eastern Region Cluster. They will arrive with feminine hygiene products for girls and women in Vicksburg. The items will be collected at the meeting and donated to the local non-profit organization, Haven House Family Shelter, for distribution to deserving individuals.

According to South Eastern Regional Director Tracey Morant Adams, Ph.D., the Cluster is an official business meeting, however, the setting provides an opportunity for the members to contribute to the host community. “While we are here to conduct the business of AKA, we also care to show up as compassionate citizens who serve others. This is in keeping with our mission of service to all mankind,” Adams said.

Vicksburg is the location for one of eight Cluster meetings that AKA will host across the South Eastern region this year. At each meeting, the organization will collect personal care items for women and girls.

“We chose Vicksburg because of its ability to host a membership organization of our size and for the great Southern hospitality that has been shown to us. We are delighted to welcome our members to this wonderful city,” said Adams.

The day-long meeting begins at 8:30 am.
