Alva Kirtricia Schuemacher-Flournoy, 1952 – 2022

A celebration of Life for Alva Kirtricia Schuemacher-Flournoy will be Saturday, Nov. 5, at Greater Grove Street M. B. Church.
Alva passed away at the age of 70 on Oct. 20, in Houston, Texas at Michael DeBakey V.A. medical Center. A visitation will be held on Friday Nov. 4, at C.J. Williams Mortuary Services, 4310 Halls Ferry Road, from noon to 6 p.m. with family being present from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Alva was born in New York, New York on Aug. 8, 1952. She lived most of her life in Vicksburg and graduated from Rosa A. Temple in 1970. She served in the U. S. Army and National Guard.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kirtis Flournoy, her mother, Alva S. Meeks, father, Kirtis Schuemacher, and her grandparents, Nicie and Charles Meekins.
She is survived by three children: Jason Flournoy, Thomas Flournoy, and Toni F. Trower. Four grandchildren: Genesis Flournoy, Jaonte Sampayan, Aniya Flournoy and Elisha Trower; Two great granddaughters; Amira and Aria Murillo. Four sisters; Diane M. Thomas, Willette M. Rawlings, Sandra J. Hodge, and Janet M. Jones, Three brothers; Ferdie Meeks (Shylinda), Orlando Meeks (Joan), and Gregory Meeks. One aunt; Ruth M. Lowe and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
