American Legion Tyner Post 213 supports Malcolm Butler football camp through United Way
The American Legion Tyner Post 213 (TFP) made a monetary donation to the United away in Malcolm Butler’s name for his support in the youth community. The banner that is hung on Mission 66/Confederate Avenue was sponsored by TFP and advertises the camp which will be held on Saturday.
Back in May, TFP 213 sponsored four local students to travel to the University of Mississippi where they each received a $1,000 scholarship at Boys State which is the premiere leadership program for rising high school seniors in Mississippi. Mayor George Flaggs Jr. was a keynote speaker.
Joe Mosley, Payton James, Kai Davis and Mason Watts were the students who received the scholarships.
TFP 213 has been around since 1946 and was formed as a group of Black veterans who wanted to help serve their community. They received their full charter in 1949 and have remained loyal to God and their community every since.
