Aniya Sanders: Vicksburg Daily News female Player of the Year

After three years of playing on the varsity level and leading Warren Central High School to many victories, Aniya Sanders is now the Vicksburg Daily News female Player of the Year.
Sanders led the way for the Vikings this season as she averaged an impressive 17.0 points per game for the team. Every time Sanders stepped onto the court, she was a defense’s worst nightmare as she drove the ball in for points multiple times in each game.
Sanders is no stranger to hard work. Last season, she led a team that had several sophomores and freshmen on the roster. Her dedication to being a team player is one big reason why Sanders has been chosen for Player of the Year.
”I want to thank my family, friends and trainers who supported me throughout this journey. I also want to thank Anthony Lumpkin, who has been my father figure and mentor,” Sanders said.
Sanders will take her talents to Copiah-Lincoln Community College next year where she accepted a full scholarship back in December.
Sanders is joining a good basketball team, and she should have no problem fitting in with Co-Lin’s athletic program as she has proven herself to be a very talented athlete.
