Another casket emerges from the flood
The flood waters have forced up another casket that was recently buried.
The photo below, from Charles Perry, shows a casket about to pop up from under the flood waters. Perry took the photo in the South Delta flood zone.
In some parts of the flooded areas, caskets are buried less than 6 feet deep due to the high water table. They are sealed and placed in a vault. The tight seal on the casket traps air, and during a flood, recently buried caskets can become buoyant.
