Another shooting overnight; one dead in Vicksburg from gunshots

A shooting has left one dead in Vicksburg from gunshots Thursday night.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, several calls to 911 reported a shooting in the 1600 block of Crawford Street.

Police, fire and ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Shortly thereafter a radio call from a first responder ordered Air Care to be called in. A few minutes later that call was canceled.

The victim was reported to have died of their injuries at an area hospital.

The Vicksburg Daily News has spoken via text message with Chief Penny Jones who indicated this homicide is still under investigation.
