Arrest made in shooting of VPD Investigator Eddie Colbert

Jaqwon Allen, 29, has been arrested for a double shooting that happened early Saturday morning on Pearl Street  in downtown Jackson.

Allen turned himself in Saturday at the Jackson Police Department. JPD Chief Deputy Deric Hearn said Allen was booked into the Rankin County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault.  Those charges could be updated according to Hearn.

Off-duty Vicksburg Police Investigator Eddie Colbert was struck in the face by a stray bullet about 1 a.m. Saturday near the 4th Avenue Lounge.

The other victim, Eric Williams,  is reportedly a security guard at the nightclub where the shooting occurred. He was shot five times after an argument with Allen.

Both men remain in critical but stable condition.
