Bailey stepping down as head coach of the VHS soccer team
Samantha Bailey has stepped down from her position as the head coach of the Vicksburg High School girl’s soccer team.
Bailey will be opening her new homeschooling program the “Bailey Academy” which will kickoff soon.
“We really sat down and assessed the family’s need and the community’s needs and we saw that there was a group of kids that could benefit from a homeschool setting so I decided to pursue that route,” Bailey said.
Bailey led the Missy Gators for the past three years where VHS won the district championship every season since her arrival. The Missy Gators recently had their best season in over a decade where they advanced to the third round of the playoffs with a 9-5-2 record.
Bailey formed a special bond with both her soccer and softball girls over the years but she eventually made the tough decision to part ways with the program.
“Leaving my girls is the hardest part because those are my babies and having to let them go was hard but it eventually came down to realizing that they aren’t the ones sitting with me at the dinner table at night and my family comes first but I will be around cheering for them and they know that they can contact me anytime and I’m looking forward to other coaching opportunities,” Bailey said.
Bailey was the very first Soccer Coach of the Year in VDN’s history and she also won the award again in 2023.
The Bailey Academy will be accepting Kindergarten-12th graders.
