Barbara Ann Morgan, 1942 – 2022
Barbara Ann Morgan went asleep in Jesus on Feb. 16, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born on August 29, 1942, in Slate Springs, Mississippi, a daughter of the late Lee and Lela Belle McCluskey.
She was busy raising her children and taking care of her family throughout most of her life, considering it a privilege and honor for her. She loved her family and anyone who knew her also knew it too. Her grandkids were ever so special to her, and she loved to tell everyone, whether she knew them or not, everything her grandkids were doing and planned to do.
Barbara loved to garden, paint, learn a new craft, and experiment with new recipes which she sometimes tested out on family and friends during her numerous Rook and Bunco parties, especially her Couple’s Group from Crossway Church, where she was an active member. She loved to travel and see the world with family and friends, even managing in recent years to visit the Holy Land. She also loved to read and share her readings with others, especially her favorite book, the Holy Bible. As a Gideon, she would share with anyone her love of the Truth, Jesus Christ, and his overwhelming love, grace and mercy for all of us. Spiritually gifted with an unselfish desire to help others, including volunteering with local nursing homes, she never met a stranger and was always the first to strike up a conversation with someone she didn’t know. Her genuine love and interest in people and unwavering faith revealed whom she served, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, King of Kings. Barbara loved her dogs, with Lulu always having a special place in her lap.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Lela Belle McCluskey.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Robert Morgan, Sr.; her four children, daughter Suzanne Waters of Vicksburg; and sons, Robert Morgan, Jr. of Vicksburg; Fred Morgan (Ashley) of Brandon; and Joel Morgan (Bonnie) of Madison; six grandchildren, Taylor Lunn (Braden), Lacey Rubio, Bobby Morgan, Trevor Salmon, Gabriella Morgan, and Greyson Morgan; one great-grandchild, Harper Grace Lunn; her sister Linda Haire; and numerous other loving family and friends who will miss everything about her tremendously, including her smile which never left her.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bobby Morgan, Greyson Morgan, Braden Lunn, Zach Buchanan and Trevor Salmon.
Barbara will be laid to rest next to her parents in Slate Springs on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. Glenwood Funeral Home of Vicksburg will be handling the arrangements with a visitation service in Vicksburg on Monday, Feb. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with services following in the chapel with Rev. T. J. Tennison officiating.
