Biden plans to visit state following devastating storms
President Joe Biden intends to pay a visit to the state and survey the damage from last weekend’s storms.
The President has already authorized a major disaster declaration for the four counties that were hit the hardest by the tornadoes. The storms resulted in the deaths of at least 23 individuals in Sharkey, Humphreys, Carroll and Monroe counties.
President Biden has expressed his condolences to Governor Tate Reeves, Senator Wicker, Senator Hyde-Smith, and Congressman Bennie Thompson, and has offered complete federal assistance to help these communities recover from the aftermath of the storm.
The President has not set a date to visit the Magnolia State, however it is expected he will make arrangements soon.
