Micheal Gates and his family opened Big Bees BBQ and Grill at 830 West Pine St. (across from Fisher-Riles Funeral Home) seven months ago.

On Sunday, April 5, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., Gates and Big Bees is giving back to the community by feeding seniors 60 years and over.

“God put it on my heart to do something for our older citizens in this crisis,” Gates said. “This community has given so much to me through the years.”

Sunday’s menu includes chicken, macaroni, green beans and a roll.

Gates spent the better part of the last 20 years as an automobile salesman, but cooking has always been his passion, and he has won numerous barbecue cook offs.

“It’s drive-up service,” Gates said. “Just pull-in, and we will bring it to your car.”

Big Bee’s is normally open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., and is offering curbside pickup and limited delivery services during the COVID-19 crisis. To place your order, call 601-831-3959.
