Billups honored at Lanier High School on Friday

Former Lanier High School basketball coach Thomas Billups was honored with an alumni blazer last week.

Billups is widely known for leading the Bulldogs to eight state championships in his time as head coach.

He started his coaching career in the 1970s as an assistant at Vicksburg High. Eventually, he took over the Junior High program and led the team to six Little Six championships.

Billups is now in his seventh season as head at Tougaloo College where they are currently 12-6 on the year.
