Just before 10 p.m. on Sunday, shots rang out at a birthday party at the Vicksburg Commons. The party was being held in the former Reebok store at the recently purchased mall.

According to an eyewitness, a group of people were attempting to join the party but were not allowed inside. That led to a verbal altercation which led to one group getting into their car and firing shots into the air. The sound of gunshots caused the crowd in the parking lot to scatter, including getting in their cars and racing away. In the scatter, a 15-year-old teenager was struck by one of the fleeing vehicles. You can watch a VDN Live Report by clicking here.

The Vicksburg Police Department found numerous shell casings in the parking lot. Those casings are spread over a large area. Eyewitnesses report the culprits shooting into the air while racing around in circles.

Radio traffic indicated the disturbance continued for another hour or so, including several calls in the general area of the birthday party. People continued the disagreement at other locations, including the Quality Inn, opposite the location of the birthday party.
