Blood drive to be held for Vicksburg resident Lisa Thompson on Thursday

A blood drive for Lisa Thompson will be held at the Medical Associates of Vicksburg on Dec. 9 from noon to 6 p.m.

Thompson has been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 40 years and is currently at UMMC undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Thompson potentially has Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), a life-threatening condition.

Donors are encouraged to make an appointment and complete the online donor history questionnaire on donation day in order to help the process move more quickly.

Those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine can still donate with no waiting period. Those who have caught COVID-19 but recovered must be symptom free for 14 days. If you have been exposed to COVID-19, you may donate if symptom free for 14 days.

A donor coach will also be present at Kroger on Dec. 7 from noon until 4 p.m. for those who are not available on Dec. 9 but still wish to donate. Please let the coach know the donation is for Lisa Thompson.
