City approves request to allow former Fire Chief Danczyk to be presented with badge
The Board of Mayor and Alderman approved a request which will allow former Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk to receive his badge as a memento of service.
Deputy Fire Chief Derrick Stamps requested the board consider the badge as surplus property so that it may be purchased and presented to the former fire chief.
“I would like to request that the badge issued to retiring Fire Chief Craig Danczyk be declared as surplus property by the City of Vicksburg so that it may be purchased and given to him as mementos of his service to the department. the badge is valued at $85,” the request stated.
Fire Chief Craig Danczyk officially retired on Aug. 31, marking an end of a 27-year career with the Vicksburg Fire Department.
Fire Chief Craig Danczyk joined the department on May 10, 1995. The vast knowledge and experience that he gained proved essential to running Vicksburg’s uniquely complex fire department. In addition to fire and rescue, VFD also provides ambulance services.
Along with serving the community of Vicksburg, Danczyk has worked to provide humanitarian aid to neighboring communities in times of need, such as the Hurricane Ida relief efforts. After Hurricane Ida, VFD assisted for months with sending manpower to support several areas in the Gulf.
On Tuesday, the Board approved the request to allow the badge to be purchased and presented to Danczyk.
