A body was found inside a vehicle that was abandoned in the Byram area with a sign that read “free car.”

Two young men in Byram were headed to a family member’s house in Copiah County when they saw a car on the side of the road. Noticing the “free car” sign, they decided to see if it would run.  They found the key inside the vehicle and it cranked right up, so they took the vehicle with them.

When they arrived at their destination and began to look around inside the car, they discovered a decomposing body in the trunk.

Authorities said the body has been identified as 34-year-old Anthony McCrills. The exact cause of his death was not immediately apparent, and his remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
