Body recovered near Port Gibson in Mississippi River drowning

The body of a man many feared had drowned in the Mississippi River has been recovered.
The victim has been identified as Alan Wallace, 62, of Bogue Chitto, Mississippi, Adam Einck with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries confirmed.
Wallace and his wife set off Friday, July 3, from Port Gibson. They were traveling upriver when the 15- or 16-foot vessel made a hard turn and dumped them both into the water.
LDWF agents were alerted about the incident Friday around 6 p.m. They rescued Mrs. Wallace, 52, about an hour later on the banks of the river.
Mr. Wallace’s body was recovered near the port of Port Gibson just before noon Sunday, according to Claiborne County Sheriff Edward Goods.
Numerous agencies assisted in the search and recovery that began late Friday afternoon.
