Brandon High School football player died on Monday

Brandon High School football player Phillip Laster, Jr. died on Monday. He was 17-years-old.

Laster was confirmed as deceased by the Rankin County coroner. No apparent injuries were detected at the time of death. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

“We are saddened and heartbroken by the sudden loss of Brandon High School student-athlete, Phillip Laster, Rankin County Superintendent Dr. Scott Rimes said.” Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. In the days to come, RCSD will offer support to the family, Brandon High School team members, coaches, classmates, teachers, and administrators as we all grieve the loss of Phillip.”
