Breakfast with Santa at the Vicksburg Convention Center benefits Ronald McDonald House
The Vicksburg Convention Center, 1600 Dr. Briggs Hopson Blvd., is hosting its 18th Annual Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 14 from 8 to 10 a.m.
Children will have an opportunity to enjoy a McDonald’s breakfast with Santa and several games, crafts and other activities, while raising money for a good cause.
Each year the convention center hosts this event with hopes that children will enjoy all of the holiday fun.
This year, there are new additions to the program.
“We are excited because we have a couple of new twists to the breakfast this year,” said Convention Center Director Annette Kirkland. “Along with the McDonald’s breakfast, prizes and other activities, we will also have Home Depot doing a kid’s workshop. So that’s just a couple of things to be involved in the two hours, and we just feel very blessed to be able to offer these new activities to the holiday tradition.”
Children and their parents will also be helping the Convention Center raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House, a home designated for families of children receiving medical care in the Jackson metro area. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
“Last year was one of the largest breakfasts we had,” Kirkland said. “There were about 740 people that came out, and we were able to give the biggest check to the Ronald McDonald House that year.”
Tickets for the event are $7 in advance online at ticketmaster.com and $10 at the box office. Participants can also purchase $1 raffle tickets for Santa’s gift bag, filled with toys and electronics, valued at more than $1,000.

“It’s such a good family experience,” Kirkland said. “You look around the room and the parents are with the kids getting their photo taken with Santa, they’re watching the kids do the crafts and things. The parents enjoy it just as much as the kids do, and it’s just a great day to spend with family.”
