UPDATE:

Moments ago, JSU officials tweeted that the lock down has been lifted.

Original report:

Media are reporting an active shooter situation on the campus of Jackson State University.

JSU issued the following alert to students: “We have an active shooter on campus. The suspected shooter is in a black Honda Accord, license plate number MAC 0214. The entire campus community should take shelter immediately. The campus is currently on lock down. We will notify you when the situation is resolved.”

WAPT reports that the alert was issued about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after one person was shot in the leg at Dalton and Cleary streets, university spokesman L.A. Warren said. The individual shot is not a JSU student.

The suspected shooter is in a black Honda Accord with license number MAC 0214, Warren said.

This is a developing story. We will provide additional information as we get it.
