Lt. Bobby Stewart of the Vicksburg Police Department disseminated the following statement to local media at the press conference today.
David Cupps was last seen in the Vicksburg, MS area on Monday, March 7, 2011 at approximately 4 p.m. Mr. Cupps was in Vicksburg with Lane Chritionson as a Safety Inspector at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Power Plant. It is believed that Mr. Cupps possibly came into contact with 2 Louisiana Escapes near a local hotel. The vehicle Cupps was driving was recovered by the Tennessee Highway Patrol after a vehicle pursuit and two suspects fled on foot into a wooded area. The authorities in Tennessee are still embarking on a manhunt for the two supects. The suspects are identified as 36 year old Ricky Wedgeworth and 33 year old Darian Pierce. The two escaped Friday, March 4, 2011 at approximately 2:00 pm from the Louisiana State Police Headquarters Compound where they were on a work detail. Wedgworth is a Memphis native and has a criminal history out of Shelby County, TN. He was serving time in Louisiana for a 2006 armed robbery conviction. He is described as a white male approximately 5’08” weighing approximately 145 lbs with reddish brown hair and brown eyes. He also has tattoos on his arms, chest and abdomen. Pierce was serving time in Louisiana for attempted second degree murder. Pierce is described as a white male approximately 5’11” and weighing approximately 145 lbs. He has brown hair and eyes and tattooed fingers on his right hand. If anyone has seen Mr. Cupps or the two suspects please contact the Vicksburg Police at 601-636-2511, Lt.
