UPDATE 12:30 p.m.:

WL Sanders with the city’s traffic department, who came out and made a visual assessment, said the bridge is safe for traffic for now. An official with the city said they will have the bridge thoroughly inspected this coming week.

Original story:

An alert reader notified the Vicksburg Daily News this morning regarding the condition of a bridge on Warrenton Road just off U.S. Highway 61 South.

The bridge’s supports seem to have shifted and a great deal of erosion can be seen under the bridge, which is located near Kemp Bottom Road.

The Vicksburg Daily News has contacted numerous people who may have jurisdiction over ensuring the bridge’s safety, including Warren County District 3 Supervisor Shawn Jackson and Sam Andrews with the Vicksburg Mayor’s office.

W.L. Sanders with the city is on-site now to begin assessing the condition of the bridge supports.

This is a developing story. We will provide updates as we have them.
